Quality breeding
Many people have recently asked us what the difference is in breeders and why our babies are so awesome compared to some. Many breeders have gorgeous pups, some have quality, and some are obsessed with color but here we don't have what is called "pet quality", but our puppies are "show quality sold as loving pets".....to melt your heart and to go to homes that will pamper and love our babies as we do. We feel our pups are special, because they are raised in a special way. Health and breeding according to the Havanese standard is of the utmost importance along with breeding with ethics and morals. Inbreeding, and linebreeding causes defects although some will tell you it locks in certain GOOD genes it does quite the opposite....... it has proven to not only destroy any breed but it is taking a huge gamble and pups can be born deformed and have many health issues.....this inbreeding and linebreeding can show devastating results for at least 7 generations to come such as cleft palattes, heart conditions, open fontanels that never close properly, dwarfism, eye problems, and many many more..... we do not breed this way....EVER. Our pups are in demand because they are raised in the home, none are line bred or in bred, and our babies are socialized beyond belief. This is one of the reasons we stand out above many and have the outstanding references that we do. There are some very good breeders out there, but there are also some very evil breeders that will do anything to make a buck. Some will go after their competition and will try to hurt people....some are horrible puppy mills, and some are new and just have not learned yet....you as the consumer need to go with your heart at times, and choose your breeder carefully.
Be aware of breeders that downsize this breed. ANY breed that has been downsized has health issues. Simple as that. Don't fall for inflated pricing, you will have years of vet bills if you do!
About testing....we have looked into this in great detail. The tests are very misleading and can cause great confusion. They are conclusive for the time when the test is done. They do not prevent and are not able to detect a problem except if it shows at that time. That means that a pet can test fine one year and the next have a problem, but also a pet can be healthy and have a puppy with a problem. We have gotten our great moms and dads from reputable breeders until we keep some of our own offspring for our breeding program. Since testing is not conclusive we fine it is better to find healthy bloodlines in reasearching the pedigrees. Our prices are extremely good as we do not believe a pet should break the bank. Our guarantee is just as good as any that you see with a price tag of $2000.00 and up. I don't know about you, but knowing this is a super healthy breed, I would not want to pay that kind of price for a loving pet....not when you understand that the testing is not as accurate as some make it look. Call any vet, do your own homework.
When a puppy is raised in a cage it is evident and that pup can have many "issues" due to being stuck in a pen ! We have seen and purchased Havanesethat had cage rage(which is what I call it) and it takes months to get these dogs socialized if ever...this happens due to the way some raise their babies both by large commercial kennels and even some home breeders that have a large number of adults that are kept in pens....Putting a Havanese in a cage breaks their hearts, and their spirit. Nothing is worse! The care I give my babies is from 7 am til 10 pm when they all go to bed and lights are out......but I do not work outside the home, and am here 24/7 except for the necessary errands, and to deliver my babies to their new forever homes. The hours hubby and I spend loving, petting, hugging and talking to our babies is what makes our babies so special and why we are so proud of the day we put that little one in your arms. Socializing is next to health and conformation but is 50% of rasing puppies. Remember, it's not JUST looks when you purchase a pet, but how he or she has been raised. Be careful of websites that show nothing but pictures...anyone can do that, a breeder that tells it all you will find is the most honest....The labor of love, patience, and the warmth these sweeties bring to me has made a huge difference in my life, and my hubby's life too.... Hope this answers some of your questions, and please never hesitate to ask us anything, we are honest, we are christians, and our babies are very dear to us!
Have a blessed day!
