About Shipping
Years ago, I never shipped my puppies, quite honestly it scared me.  I had so many people wanting puppies from out of state that I decided to do some serious investigating.
Through my learning experience with shipping, I now am very comfortable in doing this.  I used to ship my pups with a very personal touch, but that is for people that want to spend the extra money to fly me to their nearby airport and have me hand deliver their puppy to them.  This is not for everyone and can be a little pricey but I will do it if you request.  I did this on many occasions.  Most trips were lovely, but I had some bad experiences this way too.  Some of the flight attendants were extremely rude on board.  You would think that in paying for puppy to be on board with you that they would get kindness and care.  Nothing could be farther from the truth.  On a Delta flight when the owner of my puppy paid for my round trip ticket, a hotel room, and for puppy to travel on board with me, I thought this would be a great flight.  As soon as we got in the air, I put the carrier  on my lap and unzipped it so puppy would feel assured that all was ok after take off, and to give her some food and water...the flight attendant nearly bit my head off.  She was rude, short tempered, and DEMANDED that I close the carrier....My puppy started to get stressed so I opened it again, just a little so she could pop her head out...again, the SAME attendant now raised her voice to me.
The next thing that happened was my puppy was screaming and crying, because she was getting stressed, probably because I was stressed due to the flight attendants manners...my puppy  was so hot in that carrier from crying that I finally went to the restroom, took her out of the carrier and let her down in that tiny airline bathroom....she was damp with getting over heated, she also now was beginning to have loose stool...so I stayed in that tiny bathroom almost 1/2 hour which REALLY made the attendants mad....at this point the crew was totally feeling bad for my puppy and was also angry at that flight attendant. Some crew members asked her to back off, that this puppy was not hurting anyone.....well,  I got my puppy calmed down, I cleaned her up best I could, gave her some water, and cleaned up her carrier.  She then started act much better..... I held her in my arms in that bathroom for quite some time, and she was so exhausted that I put her in the carrier and sang her to sleep.
When I came out and took my seat, I put my hand in the carrier to pet my puppy, the flight attendant told me if I did not zip it shut, I would never be allowed on Delta again, I told her that was ok by me, because I would NEVER fly Delta again.
When we landed in Seattle which is where I was delivering this puppy, the crew was very sympathetic, many of them telling me to file a complaint, and two women said that due to the way me and my puppy were treated that they would never fly Delta again...one woman also said she was filing a complaint too.
When I got home to Michigan, I called Delta and filed a formal complaint both by form and by usps.
Their response to me was this and I quote:
"Animals are not our priority, our customers are and we would not discipline the flight attendant for doing her job".
I learned a very hard lesson this day.  I learned first to NEVER EVER fly Delta again, and that shipping a puppy is better than to put one on board....in shipping, the pups have a crate that is larger than the ones allowed on board, so they can move around, they have food, water, it is temperature controlled and they are not stressed by evil animal hating humans.....I have had great success in shipping pups alone...they do great as long as I take them to the airport early to run them and get them tired, I freeze a bowl of water for them the night before so that have water the entire flight, and I don't ship until they are at least 12 weeks old....we NEVER EVER drug our pups.....
So please don't hesitate to ship a puppy, it really is very safe......if you do have questions please call me, I will be glad to answer any of your concerns!
